New Here?

“I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

Welcome to St Margaret, New Toronto

We are  a community church where a wonderful diversity of people serve, pray and grow to follow Jesus.

We are delighted to welcome you to St Margarets! Come as you are and as you feel comfortable. We are a wheelchair accessible, diverse, affirming and welcoming community called to serve, pray and grow to love God, our neighbours and ourself.  We love to laugh, eat, serve and worship together.

St Margaret’s is a community of justice and hospitality, where the hungry are fed, the homeless find shelter; the lonely find community and where the love of God is extended to all.  Every week, the people of St Margaret’s worship God, who comes to us in Jesus.

Every Sunday we enjoy fellowship where lunch is often provided after the service to whoever drops by. Our worship is extended to the residents, staff and volunteers of Lakeshore Lodge long-term care facility every 1st and 3rd Thursday where up to 25 participate joyfully.

Up to 150 of our neighbours share a community meal and fellowship with us each month. St Margaret’s also hosts the Lakeshore Out of the Cold Program (LOOTC) every Monday from Nov to April.  LOOTC offers a community meal for to up to 100 guests and overnight shelter and breakfast for up to 30 men, in partnership with their supporting city organization, Dixon Hall.  In addition, on a weekly basis, up to 7 families are supported with emergency food through our Deacon’s cupboard. We would love to get to know you. Please drop by or connect with Priest

Why Church?

Jesus created the church over 2000 years ago.  The Parish of St. Margaret has existed for over one hundred years to carry on the mission of Jesus. The church is God’s idea for reaching and reclaiming God’s people. The church is not the building; it is the gathered people of God who confess the power of the risen Christ over their lives. We are the church as we serve, pray and grow to love God, our neighbour and self. We are the church as we welcome the stranger, visit the sick, learn and worship together.

Anglican Worship

St Margaret is part of the Anglican communion, Diocese of Toronto. Our worship is structured and we use powerpoint. You are invited to participate as you feel comfortable. We stand, sit, kneel, read scripture, sing, pray and share communion (bread and wine) as part of our worship. We are called to worship God in spirit and truth and we believe God takes great delight in true worship.

A Safe and Welcoming Space for Children

Children are loved and welcomed at St Margaret’s. The children’s program (Sunday School) runs from September to June by trained and police screened adults. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. on the lower level of the church.  There is also a comfortable nursery if needed.  A family friendly space is available in the sanctuary if parents/guardians prefer their children to remain in worship.  At the peace, all children gather in the worship space for communion.
